La Sagrada Familia

A true masterpiece, and without a doubt one of the most breathtaking pieces of architecture you will ever lay your eyes on. Designed by the architectural master Antonio Gaudi. Regarded as a Catalan Modernist, he was part of an art movement that was an offshoot of European Art Nouveau. Gaudi was inspired by architecture, nature and religion, all are prevalent in his works. The materials used by Gaudi ranged from stone, ceramics and tiles to wrought iron, glass and bricks. The La Sagrada Familia is Gaudis most significant and detailed piece of work. Located in the Eixample district of Barcelona. It is a giant basilica and has been under construction since 1882. It has a target completion date of 2026, which will mark 100 years since the architects passing.
